Science Museum - La Cite Des Sciences Et De L'Industrie
Situated on a large urban renewal site devoted to culture and leisure, Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie was completed in 1986 with a mandate to educate visitors about science and technology. Designed by the architect Adrien Fainsilber and based on five themes, water and earth, the universe, industry, communication, and man and health, the Cité has welcomed just about 40 million visitors since it first opened its doors to the public on 13 March 1986, coinciding with the arrival of Halley's Comet. Located in the Parc de la Villette, which was formerly a enormous abattoir, covering an area of 55 hectares, this highly-innovative complex is one of the biggest scientific and cultural centers in the world and is made up of several individual sites.
Explora offers visitors activities such as piloting an aero plane or traveling through the human body; the Géode is a large geodesic dome containing a 1000 sq metre screen and Cinaxe is a simulator fitted with equipment used to train airline pilots. For children, the Cité des Enfants teaches them how to make a TV show, whilst the Exposition Électricité offers them a chance to learn how electricity is supplied. One can find a 400-tonne submarine in the Submarine Argonaute area, which was the pride of the French Navy during the 1950s and was installed at the Cité in 1989. New exhibitions include L'homme et les Gènes show, it is an introduction to the world of genes. Poussieres d'Étoiles tells the story of the birth of the Universe through giant laser shows and musical creations.
It is located on an impressive modern site in northeastern Paris called the Parc de la Villette. The 'Parc' is a unique area of culture and leisure in Paris. Offering a wide variety of exhibitions and shows, this cultural crossroads is also a lovely park, with gardens surrounding the Ourcq canal. La cites des Sciences et de l'Industrie is located at the top of the park, and is a masterpiece of modern architecture.

Parc de la Villette is the setting for this huge science museum best known for its Géode dome and impressive 180-degree cinema. Natural and scientific phenomena are explained with the help of exhibitions in an area specially designed with kids in mind. Children aged three and over can visit a real submarine, the Argonaute, and find out how it works; temporary exhibitions are organized in Espace Explora. Admission to La Cité des Métiers resource centre and the children's multimedia library is free.
The space section is also well worth visiting, with its scale models of the Ariane space launchers, where one can experience weightlessness at first hand. There is even a real submarine in the grounds - the 400-tonne Argonaute came to rest at La Cité des Sciences in 1989 and has been restored to its former glory on dry land. The Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie is one of the largest science museums in the world, visited by many every year.
All the conveniences are nearby; with playgrounds for children, la grande halle - a giant hall for exhibitions and shows, the national conservatory of music and dance, and the "folies" - small red buildings housing mini-exhibits and snack bars.

St. John Secrets
If you're lucky enough to be familiar with the U.S. Virgin Islands, you know that they're made up of three charming isles; St. John, St. Croix, and St. Thomas. All make for divine vacation experiences, but there's something about St. John that sets it apart from the traditional Caribbean destinations. Maybe it's the fact that most of the island consists of National Park land, or perhaps it's the stunning beaches, Trunk Bay in particular. It sounds simple but it's the truth; St. John is a fabulous place to visit.
It's the smallest of the Virgin Islands, but as you wander the untamed habitat of St. John's lush and dynamic forests you'll hardly feel claustrophobic. To really get to know this precious and increasingly rare feature, follow a Park Ranger through a crisscross of paths as she regales you with all the information you care to know about the flora and fauna that captivates your senses. If you'd prefer to stay off your feet, Jeep and safari tours are also available, so listen to the history of the isle while saving energy for the activities you'll engage in later that day.
Admittedly, those activities may consist only of lounging on the beach or floating in the salty sea, not that there's anything wrong with that. Yes, St John has the kind of shoreline that makes you want to change your identity and take up the coveted title of "beach bum," so you might have to fight the urge to call home and tell them you're just not coming back. You'll discover that it's possible to spend hours at a time in one delectable spot, so prepare to settle in and chill out.
If you manage to pick yourself up off the beach towel for a while, you'll discover that there's actually a lot to do here in St. John. None of it is very demanding, so don't worry about interrupting your well-deserved mood of utter relaxation and "all's right with the world"-ness. Snorkeling, diving, lunch cruises, and souvenir shopping will call out to you, so head to the friendly town of Cruz Bay to get in on the action, and while you're there you just might discover why it has been nicknamed "Love City."
It shouldn't take much convincing to get your traveling companions to agree to head to St. John. Just tell them to imagine their ideal vacation, making sure to include blue skies and bluer waters, and they'll be sure to pack their bags when you tell them to. The swaying coconut palms, the fragrant breezes, and the most laid-back atmosphere you'll ever have the privilege to set foot in all make this place the pinnacle of vacation lands, so don't let another season go by before you've experienced this paradise for yourselves.
St. John is accessible by ferry from St. Thomas, which means that you'll truly feel like you're getting away from the rest of the spinning world as you hop from a peaceful island to one that's even more so. And with a beach named Honeymoon, it's glaringly obvious that this would be the perfect place to whisk your lover off for a romantic week or weekend. After gazing into each other's eyes while soaking in the most picturesque scenery imaginable, you'll rediscover all the things that have been obscured by the relentless march of everyday life.
Come here for the wildlife (did we mention the wild donkeys and mongoose?) or the quiet life, either way you'll be privy to the Caribbean cream of the crop. Be warned, it's very likely that upon your return you'll downplay the time you had in order to keep St. John your little secret. You always thought you were a nice, giving person, so the realization that you are in fact selfish may be an unpleasant surprise. Comfort yourself by returning to the sparsely populated forests and deliciously uncrowded beaches of St. John. We won't tell anyone.
The nature of this vacation makes it an easy choice to stay in a vacation rental. Tourists tromping through hotel lobbies and resorts that look alarmingly similar to everywhere else you've ever stayed just don't fit into the paradigm that is St. John. Since you'll find yourself treasuring every moment of this trip, so go all out and reserve a villa or seaside condo that will house you in privacy while giving you access to all the good stuff.
Whatever you seek, you shall have; be it a king-sized bed, an outdoor hot tub, a dining table under the stars, or an ironing board. Your common needs as well as your silliest whims will all be satisfied if you take the time to pick out a rental property, so put in a little effort now to be rewarded with a load of contentment later.

Why A Cruise Ship Wedding Is Fun For Everyone
A cruise ship wedding can be more fun than a traditional wedding. All cruise lines have different packages and rules for receptions and number of guests. The internet and your travel agent should have all the information about a wedding on a cruise ship for any particular cruise line. Not all the captains are licensed to marry you, but many lines will have a priest or rabbi or some other officiate that may provide these ceremonies. If you considering a cruise ship wedding, plan early so you won't be disappointed. Lots of cruise ships limit the number of ceremonies per cruise. Some of the Cruise Lines that offer cruise ship weddings are discussed below.
Princess Cruises has a wedding chapel where they perform the cruise ship weddings. The Grand Princess and her sister ships all have wedding chapels. Here the Captain is able to perform the ceremony. Wedding options start at $1400.00 per couple with receptions around $70-$80.00 per head. There will be hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, drinks and an official marriage certificate, a cake and music. The ships photographer is available and the ships florist can design any arrangements that you have in mind. You can check out their packages on line. Click on the On Board link and then the wedding/special occasions link to get information on weddings on a cruise ship. They even supply you with a phone number for a wedding consultant. The Hearts and Minds Chapel is quite quaint and perfect for a wedding on a cruise ship.
A more upscale option is Crystal Cruise who will perform ceremonies for weddings, vow renewals or anniversaries. Your cruise ship wedding will be performed by the captain or a member of the clergy and includes Champagne, a Portrait, and a cake. They also have a Honeymoon Package with a cake, champagne, a picture and a certificate signed by the captain. I would discuss this one with your agent but of course you could check out their website.
Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas has a wedding chapel and performs cruise ship weddings on the day of embarkation. Their wedding packages start at $800.00. They include flowers for bride and groom, a photo session, champagne and a cake. Go to their website to check out their options.
Carnival Cruises has shore side packages that are all inclusive. There will be a toast with keepsake flutes, a photograph, the wedding cake topper and an engraved announcement. You can also customize any extras for a fee. Talk to your travel agent, or, if you want to do some research on your own, go to the Carnival website.
After your cruise ship wedding take tons of pictures. Especially today with digital cameras, this helps to keep the cost of film and the film development down. Be sure to bring a lot of memory cards. Save stubs from tours you have taken, the invitation to the Captains Table for dinner, any notes you receive from the officers, the brochure that lists the itinerary, the dates of each port of call. You can make many beautiful well documented photo albums that will bring lots of smiles and many fond memories. It is highly recommend building a scrapbook from your trip; you will love it later when you pull it out and relive the experiences. It takes some time but is so worth it to have these pictures after your cruise ship wedding. On our honeymoon aboard the Volendam at the end of the cruise they supplied us with a beautiful menu from each dinner. On one side was the menu and on the other a beautiful scene from Holland.
All ships have a Newlyweds game. Go to it. It's fun and hopefully, you'll only be a newlywed once. Participate in all the activities, they are a little bit corny but they do make you laugh. Let everyone know you've just been had your cruise ship wedding, people love that. You might even get a few free drinks.
